Inclusive Child Care

Milestones, the Easter Seals Child Development Center, is "a fun place to learn and grow" offering inclusive child care for children of all abilities

Parents can find it challenging to obtain high quality, professional day care for their children. This challenge is even greater for parents of children with disabilities or severe medical conditions. Few facilities are equipped to meet the special needs of these youngsters. In the Evansville area, parents find the best in inclusive child care - for children of ALL abilities - at Milestones, the Easter Seals Child Development Center.

Equal opportunities to learn and play.

Milestones provides education-based day care in a nurturing, inclusive environment. Teachers, early intervention specialists, and therapists work as a team with parents. Together, this team helps children work toward developmental goals at the time in their lives when they are most ready to learn. As part of their Milestones experience, infants and children with special needs may receive early intervention services and medical rehabilitation therapies from professionals from the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center. Milestones' convenient hours, 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, enable parents to work, attend school, and carry out other daily responsibilities, confident that their children are receiving the best of care.

Milestones is licensed by the state of Indiana. In 2003 and 2006, Milestones' reputation for excellence earned it the title of "Evansville's Best Day Care," determined in voting by readers of Evansville Living magazine.

Full-day kindergarten for children of all abilities

Meeting a critical need in the Evansville community, Milestones offers full-day kindergarten for 5-year-olds of all abilities, including children with disabilities. Kindergarteners with special needs may also receive medical rehabilitation therapies in the natural environment of Milestones.

Circle of Friends

For families seeking a "parent's morning out" program for their children, Milestones offers "Circle of Friends." This play-and-learn group meets once a week for three hours. Children from 18 months to 3 years of age work toward developmental goals while having fun with other kids of all abilities.

MILESTONES NEWS FILE

A renovation in the fall of 2006 increased the number of clients served at Milestones to approximately 225 children, ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Later, an additional therapeutic playground was installed to serve all the children at Milestones.

In 2004, a fully-accessible Children's Garden was installed adjacent to Milestones, providing even more fun opportunities for kids of all abilities to learn and grow.

Outdoor play is an essential part of developing physical skills, especially for children with disabilities and special needs.  Daily play helps kids of all abilities learn, play and grow together.   preschool friends on playground
